Kost

Kost Castle

It was founded in the second half of the 14th century. After the Thirty Years’ war it avoided the fate of many other castles destined for liquidation, from the middle of the 18th century on, however, it only dilapidated. It was reconstructed and opened after the World War Two. The castle is one of those with an unforgettable silhouette, in this case especially thanks its typical square tower.
Curiously, this castle is situated in the valley. The castle´s exhibition will appeal to admires of weapons, though a visit to the black kitchen is also worth a trip. An interesting aspect of the Kost Castle is the trapezoidal shape of its main tower (White Tower); from the same angle one can spot three walled towers. This Gothic castle is in the area of Podkost in Ä?esk?? r??j. Today the Kost Castle is again owned by Kinsky´s aristocratic family.

Welcome

On approaching the castle regal entrance, guests are welcomed by the firing of the castle’s defense cannons. Guests are then lead to the bridge leading into the castle by the Lord of the Castle. The Lord, accompanied by his armed guards and troubadours, will personally announce the arrival of the important visitors. Upon entering the castle, guests walk though the castle gates that lead to the medieval market.

Market

The traditional market contains local handicraftsmen such as metal smiths and leather workers that are busing applying their trade. The market also has a compliment of the period’s culinary delights that can be washed down with an assortment of the day’s drinks. The market “experience” is completed with the presence of medieval merchants, townspeople, and maybe even a few less desirable members of society.

Knight s Tournament

After the guests have had time to mingle in this fascinating setting they are led to the knight´s tournament area behind the castle. It is here where the Lord of the castle has organized a knight’s tournament in the quests honor! The quests will have the opportunity to participate in the medieval games designed for the ladies and gentlemen of the time. The guests will then be introduced to the court jester who will lead the King’s ceremony that is specifically designed for this group of noble dignitaries.

Jester

All of this activity has surely created a massive appetite in all. The time has now come to feast! The guests will be able to taste the various culinary delights prepared by the royal chefs. The castle is overflowing with delicious smells and no one will leave unsatisfied, except for possibly the rousting pig in the background. Loyal servants will be dutifully offering the various dishes to the seated dignitaries. After a delicious meal, guests can leisurely relax and talk gathering energy for the medieval Dance after meal..

Free time

The local peasants will demonstrate various traditional dances and introduce these simple steps to the guests. The dancing is accompanied with pleasant music performed by period musicians that will really bring medieval castle experience to life. The court jester can persuade ever the shyest of dancers to get up and enjoy the night! Through the course of this wonderful evening, jugglers and magicians will entertain the quests until it finally time for the extravaganza to end and the guests are escorted back to the castle entrance why way of lighted torches.
